The Source of Victory

One of the greatest questions one could ask is, “how do I obtain victory?” This is a great
question that each and everyone of us has had over time. Questions like “how do I have victory in my life or in my church?” There is a way to obtain great victory(s) in every situation, in every
battle, in our churches, in our homes, in our families, and even in our communities.
A war is won when one side achieves its strategic objectives and the opposing side can
no longer or will no longer continue fighting. There are many ways to obtain victory and win
wars/battles, but in every victory there is always details to win. Soldiers do not run into war
without a detailed plan the leader has intricately drawn up; by which the soldiers will eventually
strive to execute at all costs. Running without an objective or plan can be very dangerous,
because without a plan there is no victory.
The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital” ~ Unknown
Details matter when it comes to obtaining victory. God even had details planned out in
Exodus when He called Moses through the burning bush (Exodus 3:4). After God called Moses
He told him that He has heard the cry of his people and now is sending Moses to go down and
deliver them out of the hands of the Egyptians.
God had a plan of victory for the children of Israel. God had raised up a man of God, or a
leader, to come and save the people of Israel. Moses began to hear the words of the Lord, and
the details of what God was going to do and how He was going to do it. Details matter when it
comes to victory. When we understand that God is our detail for great victory, it would then be
very hard to see defeat.
1 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. 2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi. ~ 2 Chronicles 20:1-2
Jehoshaphat one day gets the news that Moab and Ammon are coming against him to
kill him. Moab and Ammon are the outcome of sin. Lot's daughters one day had persuaded and
deceived their father, the result of which led to them both conceiving children by their father.
Therefore, in simple terms sin was coming against Jehoshaphat and Judah. There is a real
battle in our day and age of sin coming against us and trying to get in us. This was not just a
small multitude but the Bible records the multitude as “great”. We need to understand in any battle or war we do not need to diminish the size of the multitude, rather big or small, because at
the end of the day there will only be one victor.
Now the source of the victory comes from what Jehoshaphat does in the midst of getting
this news. The Bible tells us that he was fearful (2 Chronicles 20:3), but he did not tuck his tale
and run. He did not hide his face nor did he start the process of getting his men and troops
ready for war by sharpening their swords and preparing their shields. It tells us that
Jehoshaphat set himself to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast throughout all of Judah. There
is nothing MORE powerful than seeking after God and getting our spirits lined up with the Lords.
If we only had the revelation of 2 Corinthians 10:4 “Our weapons are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds” That when we pray it is mighty. When we fast it
is mighty. When we are one body fitly joined together in unity with one mind and one accord, it is
mighty. Once we understand the details of victory, then it will be hard to see defeat in the
church, our family, etc.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. ~ 2 Chronicles 20:4
One vital key when it comes to victory is unity. When soldiers stand in formation in battle
it emphasizes that there is unity, representing that unity is crucial to withstand the enemy from
achieving victory. The enemy will always try to disrupt the unity among the congregation. As the
church, we must keep unity. Ephesians 4:1-4 reminds us that the church must keep unity at all
costs.
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ~ Ephesians 4:1-4
We must never forget about this little word called unity. As the church and as the people
of God we must never forget about unity. When it comes to battles and wars there must
be unity. Paul tells us to endeavor to keep unity. Unity takes work and on that day the
people of Judah and Jehoshaphat took this to heart, in the midst of adversity and while
there was a war coming against them. If we can learn anything about this, it is the fact that they were unified and in one mind. Imagine if the church, the young people, the
elders, were all in unity when sin or trials came. The church is very powerful when there
is a spirit of unity in the midst of it; when the church and the saints are in one mind and
one accord (Acts 1:14, Romans 15:6, Philippians 2:1-5). I believe we would see great
victory in our families, in our churches, and in our communities. We would see back
sliders come home, see new babes in Christ, and experience revival when there is
prayer, fasting, and most of all unity in the church. No matter the cost we cannot afford
to allow the adversary nor sin to disrupt our prayer rooms, to demolish our fasting, and
to destroy our unity.
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. ~ 2 Chronicles 20:20-23
Unity did not just stop at Jehoshaphat, but it leaked over into the people and into the
singers and praisers. The devil does not like unity on the platform; and if the lying old
serpent, the deceiver among the whole world, can try to disrupt the unity on the
platform, he will do it. I’ve heard an old saying from preachers and pastors about how
the devil is after our singers and musicians. And how true that is! If our adversaries can
get their foot in the door to get the singers and praisers in disunity, they most definitely
will. Singing praise to God is a beautiful and powerful way to obtain victory. Singing is a
mighty weapon in itself, but how sweet it is when the singers get in unity and the power
of God falls down.
Most of us can remember a time that God has moved during the worship services. I’ve
seen it first hand, while praying for people during worship service they would receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost. Furthermore, most of us can remember a time during the
anointed singing that God has moved over us; whether that be before the beautiful
preached word of God, or after the preached word during altar call.
In conclusion, I believe that we can see great victories; but we must have the
source for victory. Jehoshaphat found that source, which is prayer, fasting, singing,
praising, and listening to the man of God. The source of our victory, of revival, of
breakthrough, miracles, signs, wonders is going to be seeking after God. I believe that
there is a generation rising up and receiving this revelation. Thank God for the days of
old and the old miracles, but we will see even greater miracles and greater victories.
We must prepare to obtain victory. Preparing in our prayer rooms. Preparing by
crucifying our flesh through fasting. Preparing by being in unity and not in strife against
one another. Singers must be in unity. The saints must be behind their Pastor and
unified with him. And when we get connected in the Holy Ghost, then the church is
going to see mighty things and God is going to move. The best days of the church are
not behind us, but ahead of us. Let’s have revival and untold victories, in Jesus Name.
